[Class 5 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] A heater for a brooder comprises a chamber 1 housing an oil lamp, electric element or other heat source 2, three relatively coaxial tubes 3, 4, 5 of which the outermost has a part 6 of reduced diameter above the upper end of the middle tube, and an approximately horizontal tube 7 leading from the narrow part 6 through the wall of the chamber 1 to a heat distributor 11 through which the hot air and gases travel to an outlet 12 connected with the upper part of the heater chamber 1. In the brooder shown, the tubes 5, 6, 7 and the heat distributor 11, which is a tube of rectangular cross-section, are adjustable vertically relatively to the wire floor 14, and a damper 9 is provided.
