758,576. Electric air-heaters. KLEMP, G. June 15, 1954, No. 17586/54. Class 39(3). A cylindrical casing 1 with cold air inlets 3 and a heated air outlet 4 supports, by means of struts 9, an inner hollow cylindrical member 6 over the inner surface of which are secured electric heating elements 10. A hollow conical baffle 21 directs the cold incoming air against the heating elements. Two rows of elements, one row above the other in staggered relation, may be provided. Instead of the baffle 21, a further heater element with a reflector may be positioned at the lower end of the cylindrical member 6, the reflector being arranged to direct heat radiations to a, point on the vertical axis of the member and below the air outlet 4. In Fig. 4 elements 10 are arranged on the outer wall of the member 6 and a part of the inner wall thereof is formed as a reflector, preferably parabolic, for a heating element 25. Openings are provided in the casing member for the heat radiations and the outer opening may be covered by heat resistant glass &c. Baffles in the space 12 guide cold air towards the heating elements. Fig. 5 shows two heat radiating elements 25 each associated with a parabolic reflector 29. Each heating element may comprise a helical resistance wire on a grooved carrier rod, the rod being positioned within a ceramic tube and the space therebetween being filled with ceramic powder.
