[Classes 39(iii) and 126] A space heater operated by gas which issues from a burner located at the lower end of a tube constituting the heating element and having a vent at the opposite end of the tube for carrying off products of combustion includes a collector box 60, Fig. 3, for said combustion products which is open at its outer or front end, said opening being covered by a louvred plate 92, is mounted on a shelf 55 closing off the upper end of a reflector 23 partly surrounding the heating' tube 30 through which shelf the upper end of said tube protrudes, and is connected to a flue 65 the outlet being restricted by a down draft baffle 67 in the form of an inverted channel member. The heating tube 30 has a baffle 35 depending from a tube cap 33 with an eccentrically located opening 34 and indentations 31 are struck in the tube opposite the faces of said baffle. A protective casing 24 encloses the sides and back of the unit and a false flue 76 surrounds the flue 65 which discharges into an asbestos cement or like outlet flue 78, Fig. 10. The whole structure forms a panel heater attached to and installed in the wall W, Fig. 7, of a room being secured in position by screws 88 passing through side moulding units 85 attached to the reflector 23 and casing 24. A number of modifications incorporating the same downdraft construction and mounted in the dividing wall of a room show combinations, either front or back-to-back or both, of two or more heating elements and also a single unit with back-to-back reflector constructions designed to heat two rooms at once, independent control of the gas supply from either room being shown. One single unit Fig. 26 (not shown) has a back-to-back reflector construction whereby a larger arc of the heating tube is exposed on one side than on the other. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 discloses a double back-toback reflector construction serving two rooms in which long vertical electrical resistor elements replace the heating tubes, Fig. 29 (not shown). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
