Abstract

Hatching-appliances.-Hot air supplied to an incubator is spread by a conical baffle 26 and gauze partition 27 being led from a pipe 22 tangentially into a circular chamber 23, through an eccentric opening 24 in which the apex of the baffle 26 projects. The upper part 1 of the incubator has a sliding connection 1<a> with the lower part 2 in which the egg-tray is mounted so that the eggs need not be disturbed for inspection. The open bottom rests upon the earth and is fitted with air passages 3, 4 around which a bed of soil 6 is packed. The air-supply is heated in a jacket 14 surrounding the flue 10 and open at its lower end, the jacket being partially enclosed in an extension 20 of the flue, having an outlet at the bottom. A damper 16 is thermostatically controlled.
