697,091. Vapour burners. VAPORHEAT, Ltd. May 2, 1951 [May 2, 1950], No. 10824/50. Class 75(i) In a wickless oil burner comprising a base plate 1 having a shallow vaporizing channel 2, a pair of spaced vertical coaxial cylinders 8, 9 extending respectively from the inner and outer edges of the channel 2, and a casing 16 spaced from and enclosing the cylinders 8, 9 the spaces within the inner cylinder 9 and between the outer cylinder 8 and the casing 16 being closed at the top and open at the bottom, and air for combustion being supplied to the casing 16, oil is supplied to a sump 23 which extends around only a small part of the vaporizing channel 2 and from which it seeps over the remaining shallower part of the channel 2, and an outwardly diverging baffle cone 12 is supported above the inner cylinder 9. Air for combustion is supplied by a blower (not shown) through a conduit 20 leading into the casing 16 and containing a baffle 21 which deflects the air flow downwardly to ensure that a part enters the inlet 5 at the lower end of the space within the cylinder 9. The upper end of the said space is closed by a flanged plate 10 which carries the baffle cone 12. The cylinders 8, 9 are perforated.
