Air-heating stoves.-A stove for heating brooders &c. comprises a hollow-walled casing a carried by a stand comprising tubular supports n carrying a trough o into which the open lower end of the casing fits. External air enters the casing through the tubes n and after being heated passes into the brooder, the products of combustion from the heating-means ! l being vented outside the brooder. In the stove shown the casing a is of conical form and the tubes n are, surrounded by gauze or mica screens -enclosing the heating-means l, which may be a lamp serving also to light the interior of the brooder. The tubes n may pass through the lamp reservoir, which is cooled by the air circulation. The combustion products pass through a chimney q to the interior of the casing a, which they leave by a tube d, passing thence by openings j in a baffle-plate i arranged in the conical hood h to the outlet k. The air, after leaving the hollow casing a at the top, passes beneath a partition g in the hood h, and finally enters the brooder under the edge of the hood. The casing a may be of double conical form as shown in dotted lines. In a modification, the inner wall of the casing is formed with an inwardly projecting enlargement at the lower end having a central opening for the combustion products. In a further modification adapted to stand against the side of the brooder, the coned top h is dispensed with and one side of the casing a is made flat.
