Abstract

1,099,275. Air heaters. VONO Ltd. June 15, 1966 [June 16, 1965], No. 25369/65. Heading F4S. The air heating stove 21 of a central heating system is symmetrically disposed within an opening 16 formed in a wall 13, which separates two adjacent rooms, and is surrounded, in both rooms, by a substantially V-shaped casing 45 which extends from the floor 17 to the ceiling 46 so forming a duct for conveying heated air from the stove to outlet apertures 55 contained within the upper extremities of said casing 45. A further outlet aperture 53, located in the ceiling 46 and within the casing 45, conveys some of the heated air to an upper room. Cold air used both for heating and combustion purposes enters through inlets 54. The stove 21 comprises a box-like member 22 and a cylindrical member 24 in communication therewith, said stove being closed at its upper and lower extremities by plate members [29 and 30a] between which, extend six hollow pipes (32, Fig. 3) for channeling air to be heated through the stove, the pipes being heated by combustion products from a gas burner disposed at the lower end of the stove and between the tubes. Combustion products are led to a flue within an existing chimney breast 14 by a duct 42, the major part of which is located within the casing. Combustion air enters through a port 36. A pipe coil 37, connected to an existing house water supply 39 may be provided around the cylindrical member 24. In an alternative embodiment, [Fig. 5, not shown], wherein the store is located adjacent an outside wall of the house, the port 36 and duct 42 may be connected to a balanced flue extending through said wall. A fan may be provided above the stove to assist the flow of air.
