Abstract

587,547. Automatic firearms. NIEVERGELT, W. July 12, 1944, No. 13368. [Class 119] In an automatic inertia-locked firearm in which the striker pin 9 is actuated by a lever 13, operated by a cam 18, an additional cam 19 is provided adapted to move the lever and striker in the reverse direction, if the lever 13 should break and the breech block run beyond the end of its normal travel which might produce belated firing of a cartridge. The lever 13 engages shoulders 11, 12 on the striker pin and is mounted by a pivot 14 on the breech block. The breech block 3 is connected by a cross key 4 and the breech bar 5 to a tube guiding the recuperator spring.
