Abstract

675,629. Automatic firearms. HISPANIOLA CORPORATION. June 6, 1950. [June 11, 1949] No. 14123/50. Class 119. The breech-block 2 of an automatic firearm contains the spring-urged striker 3 and has a transversely stepped bore for the sideways introduction of a retarding lever 4 which has arms of unequal length and which is made in one piece, the shorter arm being arranged in the path of a shoulder of the receiver so that, on recoil, the lever is rotated and its longer arm pushes the striker rearwards with respect to the recoiling breech-block. In the construction shown, the lever 4 has one arm 4b adapted to engage the fixed abutment 8, a second arm 4a for engaging the rear face of an opening 7 in the striker 3, and a third arm 9 which by engaging with the breech casing 1 serves to hold the lever in its striker-retracting position at all times when the lever is to the rear of the abutment 8. The striker 3, which is circular in section, carries the firing pin 5 in aT-shaped recess is acted upon by a return spring, and is fitted with a cotter 6 which by working in a slot, shown dotted, in the breech-block limits the relative movement between breech-block and striker. A part of the cotter extends into the path of a cocking handle.
