Abstract
586,868. Hot-water storage apparatus for steam boilers. EVANS, W. T. Nov. 11, 1944, No. 22276 [Class 123 (ii)] A steam boiler installation comprises one or more boilers C and at least one hot-water storage tank A, e.g., a spare boiler, which is maintained full of water, the bottom of the tank A being connected to the blow-down pipe H of the boiler C by a pipe having an associated circulating pump B and non-return valve E; and the top of the tank being provided with a return water connection D leading to the boiler feed check valve G. The pump B may run continuously or be controlled manually, but preferably it is started and stopped automatically when the boiler pressure reaches predetermined maximum and minimum values respectively. Make-up water from a tank J is supplied to the tank A by a feed pump I through an economizer K, a check valve N, and an internal sparge pipe M. Tank A is preferably fitted with a safety valve L.
