Abstract

585,981. Heat-exchangers. SERCK RADIATORS, Ltd., and UPTON, H. E. Nov. 24, 1944, No. 23467. [Class 64 (iii)] An element for a heat-exchanger comprises at least one pair of coaxial metal tubes a, b with a helical member c located in the annular space between them and bonded to one or both of the tubes to form secondary heat conductive surfaces. The member c is in the form of a coiled wire, Fig. 1, a corrugated narrow ribbon or wire, Fig. 3, or a plurality of radially-disposed U-shaped wire lengths soldered &c. to the inner tube, so as to permit fluid flow through the said member as well as between its convolutions. Specifications 231,682, [Class 64 (iii)], and 504,706 are referred to.
