Abstract

585,894. Knitting-machines. STIBBE & CO., Ltd., G., STIBBE, E. V., and BARSBY, E. S. Sept. 28, 1944, No. 18626. [Class 74 (ii)] A circular machine having means for knitted a spliced area with non-parallel sides or of irregular shape has needle jacks arranged for controlling the sinkers so that only those needles which knit the splicing thread form enlarged loops. A pivoted flopper cam 17 is moved to engage the sinkers by a bell-crank lever 25 engaged by an arm 24 connected to a bifurcated arm 20, the forked end 20a of which receives a pin 18 projecting from a slidable portion 16 of a jack cam 15. As the butts 3a of the needle jacks 3 pass beneath the cam 15, the slidable portion 16 is raised, to raise in turn the arms 20, 24 and to move the flopper cam 17 inwardly. In a modification, the slidable portion of the cam 15 may be moved horizontally instead of vertically. Specifications 210,046, [Class 74 (ii)], and 500,435 are referred to.
