[Class 74 (ii).] A knitting-machine having two sets of needles is provided with instruments, additional to the needles, and capable of transferring either a sinker loop to an adjacent needle, or the needle loop knitted by a needle to a needle of the other bed. As described in connection and with a circular rib machine, pelerine instruments 13 are provided adjacent the cylinder needles 12. An instrument 13 may be arranged in the same trick as the needle 12, or separate tricks may be provided for the instruments 13. A pattern controlled selector member 31, raised by a cam 33, is provided for raising jacks 32 disposed beneath the instruments 13, and a bolt cam 20 can be moved into position to form a continuous surface with the dividing cam 16 and the raising cam 21 for the instruments 13. A cam 28 is movable to position for raising selected needles to such height as to clear the loops from the needle latches so that the loops can be transferred to other needles. After transfer of the loops, the needles are retracted by a cam 29. The invention may be applied to multifeeder machines, jack-selecting means, and cams 20, 28 being provided in connection with each feeder.
