Abstract

404,078. Knitting-machines. BOOTON, Ltd., W. E., and BOOTON, W. E., Wanlip Street, Leicester. Sept. 1, 1932, No. 24356. [Class 74 (ii).] The pelerine instruments 17 of a circular or other machine are supported by tricks 16 arranged close to the needles 11 and extending in the direction of the length of the needles. In a circular machine the tricks 16 are cut in the inner periphery of the sinker ring 12. The instruments 17 are pivotally mounted upon a wire 20 and engage jacks 22 having pattern butts 25. The jacks 22 are slidably mounted in tricks cut in the underside of the sinker ring and may be retained by a plate 24. Cams 26 movable radially with respect to the needle cylinder are moved into position to actuate the jacks 22 by stops upon a pattern drum. A cam 27, operable upon all of the jacks, is provided for moving outwardly those jacks moved inwardly by the cams 26. The cam 27 is movable to inoperative position by pattern mechanism 55, 157 to enable the instruments 17 to remain in the inner position to accumulate sinker loops in a number of successive courses, so that they can be transferred simultaneously to adjacent needles.
