Abstract

585,676. Centrifugal separators. A I R - EQUIPEMENT. Dec. 17, 1941, No. 16286. Convention date, April 30, 1940. [Class 23] In apparatus for separating oil or other liquid particles from air or other gas, consisting of a cylindrical whirling chamber 2 with an outlet for the liquid at the lower part of the chamber and a clean gas outlet 26 at the top, mechanically actuated means are provided for conveying the separated liquid from the chamber to the discharge outlet. The chamber has a tangential inlet 39 and the inner wall carries a sieve or wire gauze 5 supported by a dome 6 resting on a shoulder 7. The separated oil particles are held by the gauze as they flow downwards ; they pass through the holes 9 in the dome 6 and flow through the passage 10 to the casing 12 from which they are removed by the screw conveyer 15 and passage 17 to the conduit 18. The conveyer is driven by a motor 24. Oil settling on the walls of the outlet 26 runs through the channels 30, 34 to the casing 12. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the subjectmatter of Specification 585,695. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
