Abstract
585,659. Velocity - modulated tubes. TRICKER, R. A. R., and WRIGHT, C. S. April 10, 1942, No. 4702. [Class 39 (i)] In a velocity-modulated discharge tube, tuning of the resonators is effected by (i) a plunger 10, Fig. 1, or (ii) in varying the shape of the walls 9 of, a portion of the resonator, wholly outside the envelope walls 2, the axis of this portion being at right angles to the main axis A.A. The other resonator portion comprises the discs 5, joined by a part annulus 8. In a reflector oscillator the toroid portion 11 and reflector 13, Fig. 3, is wholly within the envelope 14.
