585,507. Electric couplings. AIRCRAFTMARINE PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 27, 1943, No. 17749. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1942. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIII] A tool for crimping a terminal or ferrule on a conductor &c. comprises die carrying jaws 18, 29 operatively connected adjustably to pliers jaw levers 24, 25 by pivots 32, 33 and bolts 78, 79 engaging slightly differently spaced holes 70 ... 75 in the jaws and jaw levers and the concave crimping dies 58, 59 have oppositely arranged lateral projections 51, 54, which prevent crumpling of the ferrule by providing lateral supports therefor at the parts between those engaged by the dies. Fig. 6 shows a modification wherein crumpling between the dies 58a, 59a is prevented by deformable rubber blocks 51a, 54a which on closing of the jaws engage recesses 50a, 55a being thereby deformed to exert an inward lateral pressure on the ferrule. Fig. 7 shows another modification comprising crimping dies 58b, 59b and projecting surface formations 51b, 54b. Specifications 585,508 and 585,533, [Group XXIII], are referred to.
