585,533. Crimping pliers. AIRCRAFTMARINE PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 27, 1943, No. 24761/45. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1942. Divided out of 585,507. [Class 61 (ii)] A tool for crimping a ferrule on a conductor &c. has opposing jaws with die portions and stop portions to limit the approach of the die portions, one or more of the die portions being adjustable relatively to the stop portions so that the extent of compression of the ferrule may be predetermined differently for different ferrules. In the construction shown the die carrying jaws 28, 29 are operatively connected adjustably to pliers jaw levers 24, 25 by pivots 32, 33 and bolts 78, 79 engaging slightly differently spaced holes 70 ... 75 in the jaws and jaw levers, the jaw levers having stop surfaces such as 26 thereon ; the crimping dies 58, 59 on the jaws 28, 29 have oppositely arranged lateral projections 51, 54 to prevent crumpling of the ferrule by providing lateral support therefor at the parts between those engaged by the dies.
