Abstract
583,650. Forcing liquids. PYRENE CO., Ltd., and ZIESCHANG, R. Nov. 13, 1944, No. 22358. [Class 102 (ii)] [Also in Group XXI] A hand-operated fireextinguisher, in which liquid is ejected through a nozzle 6 under pressure from a container 1 when a seal 4 is pierced, is provided with a revoluble pick-up device 9, having inlets 14, 15 at each end controlled by ball valves 18, 19 held in open or closed position by inclined surfaces 33, 34 on a gravity-operated slidable member 30. The device 9 which is hollow to communicate with the nozzle 6 is supported at one end on a spigot 10 and at the other end engages a seat 36 in a cap 2 under the action of a spring 35. The member 30 is slidably connected to the device 9 by apertured plates 26, 27.
