Abstract
582,135. Discharge apparatus. SOC. FRANCAISE RADIO - ELECTRIQUE. Aug. 26, 1942, No. 12050. Convention date, April 1, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A sealed valve, rectifier or cathode-ray oscillograph, which can, however, be easily broken open for repair, comprises a number of metal parts 2, 5, 7, 9 carrying the electrodes and joined together by insulating members 3, 4, 6. The joints between the metal parts and the insulators are effected by localized high - frequency heating and the metal parts are so shaped and arranged that the operation of making or unmaking a joint does not, by conduction of heat, affect other joints already made, particularly the joint between the metal part and the other insulator. As shown, the anode 1 is formed with flange 9, grid 18 is connected to part 2, cathode leads 13, 14 to parts 7, 5 respectively. To renew the cathode, for example, seal 12 is broken, parts are replaced, flange 5 is cleaned, insulator 4 if necessary replaced by remaking seal 11, and the seal 12 is then remade by highfrequency heating.
