Class 56 In the heating of glass envelopes of cathode-ray tubes in localized zones for sealing or subdividing purposes, the heat is supplied by multi-phase current through the glass from electrodes adjacent thereto there being no relative movement between the object and the electrodes during the passage of the current. Gas burners may be used as electrodes, the gas flame conveying the current from the burner to the glass.
