[Class 39 (iii).] A furnace for melting or conditioning glasses and enamels employs tubular electrodes 1 cooled, by passing air or other gas therethrough, to a temperature at which electrolysis will be reduced to a minimum. The electrodes are adjustable and of grid formation. They are made of steel. A thermo-couple 10 in the air outlet connection indicates the electrode temperature or a thermostatically operated valve controls the air supply.
