580,125. Hinges. SMYE, A. April 17, 1945, No. 7016/44. Drawings to Specification. [Class 65 (ii)] In a hinge in which the abutting faces of the members have angular serrations or the like adapted to engage under the action of a spring or gravity to hold the members in adjusted position, the spring is of plate form with resilient arms. One set of serrations may be on a third member which is prevented from rotation relative to one of the hinge members by a screw or pin or interengaging projection and notch. In a disc-type hinge the parts may be pressed together by a star-shaped spring washer riveted to the end of the hinge-pin. The sets of serrations are preferably arranged so that they are just entering into engagement when the door or other hinged member reaches the closed position. If the hinge is applied to the upper edge of a window, its lower member is cranked to be fixed to the frame above the window. Specification 565,082 is referred to.
