Abstract

Argentic oxide containing for example 0.1-0.8 per cent. oxide of manganese, copper or cobalt, or a mixture thereof, [see Group III], is used for oxidizing or removing carbon monoxide in gas or vapours. The material is advantageously in a form produced by forming a slurry with water and asbestos or glass wool and drying or by moulding into pellets, cubes &c. Kieselguhr, serpentine, olivine, clay or waterglass may also be used. The material may be packed in a respirator canister as described in Specification 579,809.
