Abstract

579,593. Razor - blade sharpeners. ARMSTRONG, L. A. Feb. 1, 1945, No. 2542. [Class 60] A razor-blade sharpener comprises a rigid base carrying a stropping surface and a blade actuating roller below said surface, the roller being engaged by a razor for reciprocation and also for turning the blade over at the end of each stroke. The base 5 carries a strop 3 on a thin indented metal plate 4. The roller 8, running on the friction pad 10, is provided with locating flanges 9, a pinion 16 to mesh with a toothed wheel mounted on the blade spindle 15, and journals 11 to engage open-ended slots 13 in frame 12 of the razor which is of the type described in Specification 407,813, [Group XIV]. The ends 3A of the stropping surface 3 incline downwardly to enable the cutting edge of the blade 14 to meet the surface 3 without impact. Specification 407,904 also is referred to.
