Abstract

579,111. Machine guns. ADAMS, E. S. R., and WILLMOTT, W. Aug. 16, 1935, No. 34233/36. Divided out of 579,110. [Class 92 (ii)] A gas piston-rod 2 or other recoiling portion of a machine gun is held in cocked position, with the breech open, by a pivoted sear .11 which is mounted on a spring-controlled slide 23 and is controlled by a stationary sear ramp 27 which ensures the sear moving into full engagement with the bent 12. The invention is shown applied to a machine gun as described in Specification 579,110. The sear is released by a pivoted trigger 28. The trigger mechanism is mounted as a unit 19 attached by tongue and groove connections to the gun body 4 and keying with the sliding back cover 16 housing the buffer 17. The guide 15 for the return spring 14 is anchored by a bayonet joint in the screw cap 21 on the back cover.
