569,305. Bomb throwers. NORTHOVER, H. R. Oct. 21, 1940. No. 15499. [Classes 92 (i) and 92 (ii)] A projector, particularly suitable for tbrowing glass bombs, comprises a pivoted breechblock 8 with operating-handle 9a and locking- lever 13, the breech-block having a cam surface 37 engaging a pivoted hammer 34 to cock the hammer into engagement with a trigger-bar 29 when the breech is opened. The hammer is pivoted at 33 on an arm 26 extending rearwardly from the barrel, the arm being provided with a handle 27 for aiming the gun 6 mounted on a four-legged stand 24, and a spring-controlled sliding trigger-bar 29 engaging a bent 31 in the hammer. When the trigger-bar is released, the hammer strikes a firing cap in a vented nipple 20 on the breech-block, the nipple having a pointed end 22 which pierces the cartridge as the breech is closed. The cartridge employed is preferably that described in Specification 569,304.
