Abstract

578,021. Rope ladders. BRITISH ROPES. Ltd., and RICHARDSON, F. Nov. 22, 1943, No. 19506. [Class 20 (ii)] A boarding or disembarkation ladder for a vessel comprises a rope net, preferably of square mesh, with upper and lower booms and also with further intermediate booms, ropes passing freely through holes or eyes in the booms and being knotted below the lowermost boom to facilitate the drawing up of the ladder and its extension. The booms 1, 2 have each three blocks 4 to hold off the ladder from the ship's side. Gathering ropes 5 knotted &c. below the bottom boom 3 pass freely through the other booms and terminate in loops 6 at their upper ends. The warp and weft ropes of the net pass alternately through each other and are secured to each other by a hitch at each point of intersection. The warp ropes 7 may be continuous, passing from the upper boom, through the remaining booms, thence turning under the bottom boom and returning to the upper boom &c. Loops 12 may be left under the bottom boom to serve as hand grips.
