Abstract

104,037. Spivey, F. Feb. 28, 1916. H Torpedo nets and screens.-A device for protecting ships against mines, torpedoes, &c. is formed of a light metal wedge-shaped framework upon each side of which are stretched a number of metallic wires; a hook or scoop may be provided to receive or secure unexploded mines &c. When attached to the bow of a vessel, the frame is formed of three inclined bars A, B, C connected together by aT-piece D. Wires F are stretched between the bars A, B, C. The device is connected to the bow by a pivoted boom G and is raised, lowered, and secured in position by ropes K, L and winches. A scoop M secured to an endless rope N may be provided to receive unexploded mines &c. Hooks may be used in place of the receptacle M. The Provisional Specification states that the wires may pass around pulleys.
