593,649. Salvaging devices. WERTHEIMER, J. June 18, 1945, No. 15450. Convention date, June 5, 1944. [Class 68 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] Salvaging apparatus comprises a pair of vessels maintained in a fixed spaced relationship, by a plurality of endless girders, each extending beneath the hull of each vessel and having two parallel limbs extending. laterally between the vessels above the. deck level, together with separate means mounted on the vessels for lifting and supporting craft between the vessels. As shown, two vessels 10, 11 are encircled by a plurality of girders 12, each girder being formed as a double inverted U 13 and 14 at the top and a pair of U's 15 and 16 at the bottom. Along the decks of both vessels and projecting over the edges thereof are spaced a plurality of booms 18 carried by derricks, and provided with pulleys 21 to carry the cables 22 from the ends of which is suspended a cradle formed by a wire net 24. The bows and sterns of the vessels are also provided with derricks so that one end of the sunken craft may be raised to facilitate the placing of the net underneath it.
