Abstract
695,361. Floating trawl nets. LARSEN, R. Nov. 28, 1949 [Dec. 1, 1948], No. 30457/49. Class 48. In a floating trawl towed by two vessels and comprising congruent top and bottom net sections which have catenary front edges and are joined to side net sections, the front ends of the four seams 2-5 being attached to tow ropes 7-10, each side section is shaped similarly to the top and bottom sections and the lower two tow ropes 9, 10 are weighted so that they pull on the net in a downward direction which is symmetrically disposed to the upward pull of the upper tow ropes 7, 8 with regard to the horizontal middle plane of the net. The side sections may be congruent with the top and bottom sections so that the net has a square mouth. The lower tow ropes may be weighted by hooked-on weights 13 attached at a distance, from the mouth of the net; instead, parts of the lower ropes may be of heavier construction than the upper two ropes. Floats and weights are attached to the mouth of the net..
