Abstract

577,367. Ventilators. BEADLE, Ltd., J. C., and IRLAM, P. R. May 5, 1944, No. 8524. [Class 137] [Also in Group XXV] Ventilators for vehicles or buildings &c. conveniently associated with a glazed window aperture, comprise an inclined outer panel 1 with its upper part fitting flush against the cant rail 3 or equivalent window frame member and its lower part forming a drip flange 7, an outwardly extending base member 8 with one or more ventilating openings 17 and preferable one or more gauze filters 19, and an inner panel 9 with one or more flanged apertures 11 and an upper flange 12 abutted against the cant rail, the apertures 11 being closable by a hinged flap 20. The base plate and lower part of the inner panel fit snugly in the top angle bar 14 of the window opening. The flap is operated by a knob 25 at the end of a rod 22 carried by a ball 23 mounted on the panel, the threaded end 24 of the rod co-operating with a cylindrical nut 27 strapped to the flap. In another form the flap which closes a single opening is bowed, its lower edge being folded double and forming a draught-proof closure with a sealing strip along the edge of the inner panel.
