Abstract

576,914. Endless-belt conveyers. MOORE, M. S., and MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. March 9, 1944, No. 4434. [Class 78 (i)] In a loading machine of the kind in which a loading element, e.g. a bar co-operating with a comb, and a conveyer are driven by the same motor, a clutch is inserted in the conveyer drive which will slip under a predetermined torque without stopping the loading element. The sprockets 3, which drive chains 2 attached to the conveyer belt 1, are mounted on a driving shaft 6 which is made in two parts connected by a dog-clutch 16. Each sprocket is keyed to a member 4 which houses a bearing 5 and is connected by screws 8 to a sleeve 7. A multiplate clutch is mounted on each part of the shaft and connects it with the sleeve 7. Loading springs 19 for the clutch plates are supported by pins 18 mounted in the elements of the dogclutch. The loading is adjusted by pins 20 which are engaged by recesses in nuts 21 mounted on the members 4. Specification 556,936 is referred to.
