Abstract

1,033,864. Shoe cleaning machines. K. STIEGER. Jan. 25, 1965 [Jan. 29, 1964], No. 3161/65. Heading A4F. In a machine for cleaning the soles of shoes in which motor driven endless brush belts 15 are disposed between the bars 2 of a grating for supporting a foot wearing a shoe to be cleaned, adjacent belts 15 are driven in opposite directions. The brush belts 15 may be mounted on rollers 14, alternating with rollers 14<SP>1</SP> and mounted on shafts 10 (not shown) and 11 driven in opposite directions by chain and sprocket gearing. Rollers 14 are keyed to shafts 10, 11, whilst the rollers 14<SP>1</SP> are idlers, and brush belts 15 connect the rollers 14 of one shaft to the idlers 14<SP>1</SP> of the other, whereby the brush belts 15 form two oppositely driven sets, the belts of one set alternating with those of the other. Alternatively the belts 15 are carried by two oppositely rotating driving rollers each having grooves in driving engagement with one set of belts, the grooves alternating with sliding rings which receive the other set of belts.
