Abstract

575,974. Rove-stop mechanism for spinning &c. machines. BOYD. Ltd., J. & T., and WARNOCK. M. April 21, 1844, No. 7388. [Class 120 (ii)] In a rove-stop mechanism for the spinning &c. of flax &c. of the type including a detector 5 operative on breakage or failure of the yarn or rove, the detector 5, pivoted at 6, bears with adjustable pressure on the yarn or rove just above its entry into the flyer 4, and is connected by a link 7 to a pressure lever 8, pivoted at 8 <3>, which is linked at 11 with a weighted lever 12 applying pressure to the top rollers 9, 10. On breakage of a yarn or rove, the detector 5 swings to the left, allowing the link 7 to fall under the force of the weighted lever 8, a further weight 14, having a cam surface 14<1> then coming into action on the pin 14<3> so to provide the additional force necessary to lift the weighted lever 12 to separate the rollers 9, 10. Simultaneously, the projection 14<2> on the weight 14 moves inwardly to clamp the rove against the stationary face 15. During piecing, the detector 5 is swung to the right, allowing the rollers 9, 10 to come together and deliver yarn, whereafter it is again swung to the left to contact with the pieced yarn.
