Abstract

418,291. Delivery-stopping arrangements for spinning-frames. WILLIAMSON, W. P., Ludlow, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Jan. 20, 1933, No. 1991. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 21, 1933]. [Class 120 (ii).] In spinning-frames for flax, hemp, jute and the like, a feeler-rod 28 is adapted when the yarn or roving breaks to swing about a pivot 29 and to bringasevering-member, such as a gill 30, into contact with the roving or sliver above the retaining-rollers 10, preferably at such distance therefrom that relatively few of the fibres are being drawn by the retaining-rollers. The part 34 on the rod 28 in contact with the yam may be of polished metal, rubber, leather, cork or wood and is V- shaped so as to serve to smooth the yarn. The feeler-rod is also provided with a receptacle 32 which, when the rod swings forward on breakage, receives the severed end. Instead of the feeler-rod engaging the yarn directly, it may normally be locked in position by a catch which is released upon breakage by a tripdetector engaged by the yam. A latch may be provided to lock the feeler-rod during piercing. Specification 407,690 is referred to.
