Abstract

570,610. Spinning frames; sliver cans. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd., and SUFFERN, W. S. Dec. 3, 1943, No. 20290. [Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] In a double-sided spinning machine a central platform or gangway B is provided immediately above the driving-cylinders C for the flyers D or other spindles, the platform B permitting an attendant to pass along the machine from end to end, above and behind the spindles on either side. The yarn is spun directly from sliver .in cans A, A<1> mounted in holders E, E<1> and having guides F attached to the respective supports E<2>, E<3>. The portion A<2> of each can may be transparent so that the attendant on the platform B can see the amount of sliver in the can. To enable an attendant at the front of the machine to reach the sliver cans, a sheetmetal step G is hooked at g to rest on a rail H and provided with a flanged wheel g<1> to run on a rail K.
