Abstract

575,971. Brakes. GALLUSSER, H. April 19, 1944, No. 7210. Convention date, July 7, 1943. [Class 103 (i)] In a device for adjusting automatically brake linkage rods of the kind wherein a main sleeve 3 connected to the arm 1 is slidably engaged in an adjusting sleeve 10, the sleeves being clamped to a screwed part 7 of a linkage rod by nut segments 5, 15 which are embraced by annular springs 6, 16, the conical end 25 of the nut 15 is associated with the conical face 26 of a ring 27 which opposes opening of the segments until distance pieces 28 are released by the movement of the sleeve 3 against the pressure of the spring 11. The nut segments 15 are then free, when they contact with the usual sleeve 29, to jump the threads to a new position of adjustment. Adjustment of the nut-segments 5 on the screw 7 is effected during the inward movement of the sleeve 3, the conical faces 18, 19 then becoming disengaged. In a modification, the nut 15 is provided with a conical face on both ends, one face being engaged by the ring 27 and the other by a spring-pressed sleeve having a shoulder which limits its movement towards the sleeve 29 so that when the nut 15 contacts with the latter sleeve, the nut is free to jump the threads. A segmental lock-nut is provided to assist the nut 5.
