Abstract

955,703. Friction clutches. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. Oct. 10, 1960 [Oct. 8, 1959], No. 34150/59. Heading F2C. A friction clutch is engaged by an over-centre lever arrangement comprising bell-crank levers 12 pivoted at 11 on lugs 10 of a presser plate 9 and having arms 14 connected to a control sleeve 19 by links 17. The inner end of arms 14 of the bell-crank levers bear against a ring 16 movably mounted on a stop ring 23 and urged to the left by a Belleville spring 24. When the control sleeve 19 is in its engaged position, shown in full lines, a rim 27 thereof abuts the stop ring 23. The spring mounting of the bearing ring 16 allows substantial wear of the clutch plates before adjustment is necessary.
