566,744. Brakes. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. June 23, 1943, No. 10158. Convention date, June 29, 1942. [Class 103 (i)] An automatically adjustable stop for deter. mining the release position of an axially movable member 16 of a disc brake comprises a pin 19 carried by the member and normally contacting a fixed part 20. The pin has a one-way clutch connection with the member 16 provided by a spring steel washer 24 with radial cuts 26, through which the pin extends. If, when the brake is applied, the movement of the member 16 exceeds the clearance between a shoulder 22 on the pin and a fixed part 14, the pin is moved relatively to the member 16, the release position of which is thus adjusted. The brake shown comprises an axially slidable friction disc 13 keyed at 12 to a rotatable drum 11 and arranged to be gripped between a disc 15 on the fixed part 14 and a disc 16 to which pressure is applied by an inflatable tube 18 through an annular member 17. A light pressure may be maintained in the fluid-pressure system, so that the tube 18 may follow-up the disc in its adjusted position. Release springs 25 are provided.
