783,081. Combined disc and drum brakes. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Nov. 25, 1954 [Dec. 7, 1953], No. 34153/54. Class 103 (1). In a combined disc and drum brake of the kind described in Specification 758,882 the friction pads 86, which are moved apart into engagement with the inner radial sides of the drum so as to cause a pivotal movement of the braking devices 22 and 24 such as to apply friction elements 46 to the axial drum surface 14, are detachably supported on the fluid-pressure actuator pistons 66 and 68 by means of ball-andsocket connections 78. As shown in Fig. 4, the balls are retained in their sockets by C-shaped spring elements 92 fitting into circumferential grooves 88. Specifications 783,082 and 783,083 also are referred to.
