[Class 44] In an aircraft panel or like fastening of the kind in which a stud 3 rotatably mounted in the panel 1 has radial projections 6, formed by a cross-pin or otherwise, and engaged with a spring-plate 10 secured to the support 2 by rivets or screws 11, the projections being passed through elongated apertures in support and plate and the stud rotated through 90 degrees in either direction so that the projections ride up one or other of pairs of inclined ramps 14, 16 or 15, 17 provided by the plate 10 and engage in transverse recesses 18, the projections 6 are cylindrical and the ramps 14-17 are of helical form so that the projections make contact throughout the whole of their length in every position on the ramps, and the recesses 18 are cylindrical so that the projections make similar contact therein. The edge of the aperture in plate 10 may be downwardly flanged as at 12a, the flange entering the aperture in the support when plate 10 is flattened more or less by the fastening operation. The cross-pin, inserted in the stud after the latter has been passed through the hole 8 in panel 1, is secured by indentations 7 in the pin, made close up to the stud by means of a punch. According to the Provisional Specification the plate 10, instead of being secured by rivets or screws, may have a bent-back extension to give the whole a U-form, enabling it to be clipped on to the edge of a support and located by the flanged edge of the plate apertare, entering the aperture in the support, or alternatively, the bent-back extension may be provided with a. flanged hole for engaging the support aperture, or with a semi-circular and flanged recess for engagement in a hole about one side of the stud shank. In a further alternative, the U-form may be provided at the bend with an outward extension, so that the latter and the bent-back part form a foot allowing the device to be fitted over one edge or end of a hole or slot in the support by the bent-back part and secured at the other end of the slot by the extension which may be lipped or flanged to snap on at the other end of the slot or hole. The head 4 of the stud may have a screw, driver slot 19, or may have any suitable knob or handle for rotating it.
