Mounting system for suspension of objects and mounting therefore
The present invention relates to a mounting system for suspension of objects and of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1, i.e. consisting of mounting members with mutually complementary connection parts, viz. a first mounting member shaped with an abutment surface having a receive opening and a countersunk connection surface, and a second mounting member shaped with an abutment surface and a connection part projecting from it having a connection head with a shape being adapted to the shape of the receive opening, and having clamp parts intended for engaging with the said countersunk connection surface.
The suspension of relatively heavy or large objects, e.g. antlers, loudspeakers, can be complicated, and there will often be a risk that the object, by unintended push load, falls down if traditional suspension principles have been used.
It is the object of the invention to provide a universal mounting system of the type specified in the introduction, and which by means of simple measures makes it possible to achieve quick and stable suspension of heavy or large objects.
The mounting system according to the invention is characterised in that the said receive opening and the said projecting connection part have such a location in relation to the said abutment surfaces that the engagement between the said clamp parts and the said connection surface and the said abutment surfaces can be established by mutual angular pivoting of the mounting members when the connection part has been inserted in the receive opening. Hereby a mounting system is achieved which makes it easy and quick to mount (suspend) objects (e.g. sign plates) on a wall.
De respective mounting members, the female member having a receive opening or the male member having a projecting connection part, can be used for the suspension of objects in that either the female member or the male member is fastened to the suspension surface (e.g. a wall) and the complementary female member or male
member is fastened to the object (e.g. a sign plate) to be mounted on the wall. In other words, it is completely insignificant whether the female member or the male member is fastened to the wall, or vice versa.
An alternative option is that the male member or female member constitutes an integral part of the object (e.g. a sign plate) to be mounted on a front wall.
The mounting system according to the invention may suitably be shaped so that it consists of a number of said first mounting members and of a corresponding number of said second mounting members.
Preferably, the mounting system according to the invention is shaped in such a way that the circumferential shapes of the receive opening and connection part respectively are mutually complementary with an oblong head shape, e.g. with the shape of a triangle, a parallelogram (diamond-shaped), an ellipsis (oval) whose clamp parts have been adapted to the said countersunk connection surface.
For the mounting of a preferably oblong object, e.g. a sign plate, on a surface, the mounting system according to the invention may advantageously be shaped so that it consists of a first mounting member having a receive opening and a number of mounting members modified in relation hereto, said mounting members having receive openings, which furthermore are shaped with lateral openings for lateral insertion of projecting connection parts of a number of the said second mounting members, in that the respective mounting members are adapted to being mounted in an in-line row and with a uniform distance on the said surface and said item respectively.
The invention additionally concerns a mounting member of the said first type for the mounting system, which mounting member is characterised in that it is shaped with a preferably rectangular abutment surface having a receive opening and a countersunk connection surface, and a mounting member of the said second type for the mounting system, which mounting member is characterised in that it is shaped with a preferably rectangular abutment surface having a connection part projecting from it, said
connection part having a connection head with a shape being adapted to the shape of the said receive opening, and having clamp parts intended for engaging with the said countersunk connection surface.
Preferably, the circumferential shapes of receive opening and connection part respectively are mutually complementary with an oblong head shape, e.g. with the shape of a triangle, a parallelogram (diamond-shaped), ellipsis (oval), which furthermore has been adapted to the said countersunk connection surface.

Fig. 8 shows a set of mounting members, cf. Figs. 1 and 3, for the mounting system according to the invention,
Fig. 9 shows an upper mounting member (female member), cf. Fig. 1, led down over a lower mounting member (male member), cf. Fig. 3
Fig. 10 shows the female member being turned in relation to the male member so that the connection parts of the male member interact with the countersunk connection surface of the female member, and
Fig. 1 1 shows female and male members turned into place in relation to each other, i.e. having optimum engagement between the interacting parts of the male member and the female member.
The mounting member (female member) 2 shown in Fig. 1 has been fastened to a surface 6 by means of screws 4. The mounting member 2 has a rectangular abutment surface 8 having a central diamond-shaped receive opening 10 and a number of fixing holes 12. At the underside of the mounting member 2 a countersunk connection surface 14 (Fig. 11) has been shaped.
In Figs. 2 and 3 an alternative mounting member (female member) 16 is shown, which has been fastened to a surface 6 by means of screws 4, and which mounting member has a receive opening 18. Furthermore, it has a lateral opening 20 so that a projecting connection part 22 of a mounting member (male member) 24, cf. Fig. 3, can be laterally inserted in the receive opening 18.
The mounting member (male member) 24 shown in Fig. 4 has been fastened to an object 26 by means of screws so that it can be connected with the surface 6 by mutual coupling of the mounting members 2 or 16 with mounting members 24, cf. for example Figs. 9-1 1. The mounting member 24 has a rectangular abutment surface 28 having a central, projecting connection part 22 with a central stick part 30 and a head
part 32 having a circumferential shape corresponding to the circumferential shape of the receive opening 10 of the mounting member 2. As shown in Figs. 9-1 1, the head part 32 has clamp parts 34 adapted to engage with the countersunk connection surface 14 at the rear side of the mounting member (female member) 2 by mutual angular displacement of the mounting members 2 and 16.
In Fig. 5 a surface 6 (e.g. a wall) is shown to which two mounting members 2 and 16 (female members) have been fastened, viz. a mounting member 2 having a closed receive opening 10, and a mounting member 16 having a receive opening 18 with a lateral opening 20. In Fig. 6 an object 26 (e.g. an oblong sign plate) is shown to which two mounting members (male members) 24 have been fastened, said mounting members 24 having projecting connection parts 22 that fit in the receive opening 10 of the mounting member 2 and in the laterally open receive opening 18 respectively, in that the respective mounting members have been mounted on the wall surface 6 and the sign plate 26 with the same mutual centre distances. In this connection it should be noted that the respective mounting members 2, 16, 24 on at least one lateral edge are provided with specifications of measurement representing the centre of the mounting members.
During mounting of the sign plate 26, cf. Fig. 6, to the wall part 6, cf. Fig. 5, the connection part 22 of a mounting member 24 (male member) is first inserted in the mounting member 2 with the closed receive opening 10 upon which the sign plate 26 is turned downwards until the connection part 22 of the second mounting member 16 is inserted laterally via the lateral opening 20 and into the receive opening 18, i.e. until the sign plate 26 has been turned in place in relation to the wall surface 6. A considerable advantage of this mounting method moreover is that it will be extremely easy to bring the sign plate 26 to take a correct position, e.g. horizontal, in that the engagement between the connection part 22 of the mounting member 24 and the connection surface 19 of the mounting member 2 or 16 right away allows the necessary mutual adjustment in both directions, vertical and horizontal.
As shown in Fig. 7, the use of the mounting members according to the invention ensures an optimum mounting of e.g. sign plates 26 on a wall surface 6 with a uniform distance between sign plate and wall. This cavity may advantageously be used for hidden wiring of any necessary electrical installations.
Finally it should be mentioned that the mounting system and the mounting members respectively according to the invention advantageously can be used for almost any suspension and/or connection purpose. For example an open and a closed female mounting member and two male mounting members could be used for detachable fixing of toilet seats on toilets.
Furthermore, road signs could additionally be provided with preferably a male mounting member so that an alternative or temporary road sign can be mounted on the permanent road sign. The same principle could advantageously be used for exchangeable mounting of supplementary traffic signs on road signs.
For other more general suspension purposes the mounting system according to the invention may be used, maybe in a modified design, in that a male or female mounting member could easily be integrated in items e.g. to be suspended on a wall surface, such as picture frames, where a male mounting member mounted on a wall can engage directly with a track of an aluminium sectional frame part. Or a picture could be provided with a laterally open female mounting member according to the invention.
