Abstract

572,940. Variable-pitch propellers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SEEWER, P. W. Sept. 20, 1943, No. 15399. [Class 114] In a variable-pitch propeller with one or more pairs of diametrically opposite blades 1, 10, the blade 1 is screwed into a hollow spindle 3 containing a needle-type roller bearing 14 to support a shaft portion 13 of the blade 10 which is screwed into a hollow spindle 12 containing a needle-type roller bearing 22 to support the inner end of the hollow spindle 3. The spindles 3, 13 are also journalled in needle-type roller bearings 5, 16 and in tapered-roller radial-thrust bearings 26, and they are.formed with flanges 25 with bevel teeth 27 for engagement with a driving pinion 28 on the end of a pitch-changing shaft 29.
