Abstract
570,431. Lamp holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 7, 1943, No. 11014. Convention date, July 7, 1942. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XI] An adapter for providing an anti-vibration mounting for a tubular discharge lamp comprises a base 15 into which the prongs 10<1> of the lamp 10 fit and a support 14 having prong contacts to fit the usual lamp holder 12, the base and support being mechanically connected by a spring annulus 37 and electrically by leads 24. The spring 37 of strip metal is riveted in grooves 36, 40 in the support 14 and base 15 to prevent relative rotation of the parts. The base 15 has a slot 19 passing from the periphery through a central guide 18 that leaves an annular space 20 in which the prongs 10' can be turned into engagement with spring contacts 21, which are bent to form loops 23 to which the leads 24 are soldered and recesses 22 to receive the prongs 10<1>. The contacts are retained in the space 20 by a cap 25. The space between the base and support is enclosed by a rubber sleeve 42. A spring clip 45 may be used to hold the support 14 in the holder 12.
