Abstract

570,286. Valves. ASPIN, F. M. Dec. 7, 1943, No. 20455. [Class 7 (vi)] Sealing engagement between the ported end - face of a conical rotary valve 10 and the annular end face of a co-operating stationary member 13 is obtained by disposing a sealing ring 12 in a groove in one of the end faces or, as shown, in complementary grooves in the valve and member. When a single groove is used, a wavy spring therein presses the ring into sealing contact with the opposite face, but the ring, which may be endless, floats freely in the complementary grooves when these are provided. As shown, the stationary member 13 comprises a baffle member as described in Specification 564,850 and the ring is set back from the edge of the port therein.
