Abstract
570,056. Gas washers. MOTTRAM, W. Dec. 6, 1943, No. 20368. [Class 55 (ii)] To control the ammonia concentration in coal &c. gas washers, a float valve chamber is coupled to the last washing chamber by circulating pipes and the float opens a water inlet valve when the density reaches a predetermined value. In one form, the float valve chamber b, which is coupled to the last washer chamber a by circulating pipes c, d, is maintained full of liquor and communicates with an overhead water tank e through the float valve f. A pipe h connects the top of the water tank with the gas space of chamber a. A float i may operate the water inlet valve into the water tank through an adjustably connected quadrant &c. so that the water level may be varied and so influence the action of float valve f and the working strength of the liquor.
