Abstract
569,030. Composite boards. KREMER, H. Oct. 26, 1943, No. 17647. [Class 145 (ii)] [Also in Group VIII] A composite board is formed with a core of Balsa wood, such as a number of blocks 10, arranged in contact, or a core of expanded rubber or foamed resin such as is known under the Registered Trade Mark " Formvar," and. wooden stringers 11 are pressed into the core by means of a hydraulic press, and outer covers 12 of sheet material are then glued to the core. The covers 12 are of wooden plywood or plates of sheet metal such as is known under the Registered Trade Mark " Alczad." The stringers may.be arranged parallel to the grain of the Balsa wood or may be, arranged across the grain in one or more directions. Stringers of half the -thickness shown may be pressed in from opposite sides of the core, and the stringers may be coated with glue before being impressed into the core. Other wooden blocks as 13 may be impressed into the core and serve to receive fixing-screws 14 or the like, and the core may be bounded by a shallow wooden frame also impressed in. The stringers 11 may be formed of laminated wood, and may be of different cross-section.
