Abstract

1,156,557. Laminated parquet boards. EKPARKETT A.B. 12 Oct., 1966 [19 Oct., 1965], No. 45667/66. Heading B5N. In a method of manufacturing parquet boards or panels comprising as a backing layer a wax impregnated wood waste panel 10 and a wearing layer 11 of wood on one side of the backing layer, the different layers, after being coated with glue and superposed are introduced into a press in which they are subjected to a pressure of about 4 kg/sq. cm. and traversed by high frequency current so as to be heated to a temperature of about 80‹C. As described the panel 10 comprises an upper layer of fine chips of wood waste and a lower layer of coarse chips of wood waste and is impregnated with a wax emulsion in such a manner that there is a greaterconcentration of wax near the major surfaces of the panel than at its centre. The wearing layer 11 may be of oak staves extending longitudinally of the panel 10 and the parquet board may include a base layer 12 of synthetic plastics or, as shown, of fir staves running transversely of the panel. The press used in forming the parquet board has high frequency pole plates of opposite polarity on the same or opposite sides of the superposed layers, and may apply a pressure of 2 to 4 kg/sq. cm. for 1 to 1À5 minutes.
