Class 87(1) [Also in Group XXIII] A flooring block comprises a centre layer 1 of balsa disposed between and resin-bonded to outer layers 2 of hard-wearing wood, such as Sapele mahogany, oak or beech, the outer layers being arranged with their grain transverse with respect to the long grains of the balsa. The outer layers may be laminated, e.g., backing veneers 3 may be arranged with their grain opposed to that of the facing veneers 2.
